Experience with The Sabbatical Diet

"The answer to the global threat of obesity and chronic non-communicable diseases"

The diseases of Syndrome X (Obesity, Diabetes Mellitus Type 2, Hypercholesterolemia, Hypertension and Atherosclerosis) and their complications such as cardiovascular diseases are increasing worldwide at alarming rates. In addition to the morbidity and the mortality associated with these diseases, heavy financial burdens are placed on these sick individuals and their societies as a whole. Despite conventional and alternative medicinal approaches the situation is still progressing unabated

The Sabbatical Diet represents the fundamental principles of how God fed the Israelites as they journeyed from Egypt to the Promised Land. This book shows the scientific soundness of this diet and provides the solution to the Global Threat of the chronic non-communicable diseases.

Personal Experience (Dr R. Robinson) – Prior to starting the Sabbatical Diet my weight was 250 pounds. In order to prevent this from climbing further I exercised at least 3 hours per week. This was not possible all the time because of various factors and when my exercise lapsed my weight would soar to 270 pounds. At this time I would have to increase my exercise and enforce some dietary restrictions.

I started The Sabbatical Diet in mid April 2003 while continuing my 3 hours per week exercise program. My weight decreased to 210 pounds in 10 weeks. There was no weight increase if my exercise program lapsed while on this diet.

Personal Experiment – From the 20th December 2003, during the Christmas period, to the 2nd January 2004 I voluntarily consumed an average of 4000 -5000 calories daily without exercising. This was easy since I was invited to a Christmas party literally every day. On the 2nd January I weighed 213 pounds. This extra 3 pounds were lost before I resumed my exercise program on the 21st January 2004. In September 2004 my weight was 210 pounds with 33% body fat. My current weight on July 20th 2005 is 210 pounds with a body fat of 19 %.

Friends and Family – In January 2004 I introduced The Sabbatical Diet to friends and family members. Despite skepticism in the presence of the obvious success I had achieved in weight control, a few decided to take my advice. Their success has encouraged others and the results are consistent and not dependent on age, sex, activity level or the fact that alcohol is a part of their daily diet. They have also experienced improvement and reversal of diseases such as Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension and High Cholesterol.

Patients in Private Practice – In January 2004 I introduced The Sabbatical Diet to my private patients who unlike my family and friends did not hesitate to take my advice.

Case 1: Peaches Richards

At the end of an eight weeks(trial) Mrs. Richards was so happy, she had lost 14 lb including six inches off her waist. Today, Mrs. Richards is still dropping those pounds.

A wife and mother of four boys, she is also hypertensive. Currently, she is still on the sabbatical diet and still visits the diet specialist, Dr. Robert Robinson at the Apex Medical Centre in St. Andrew.

Age: 40
Height: 5 feet 5 inches
Weight: 279 lb, now 261
Long-term goalweight: 160 lb

Patient's with Obesity - Approximately 500 patients were placed on The Sabbatical Diet over an 18 months period. All patients lost weight ranging from 1 pound to 10 pounds per month. The largest weight loss was 120 pounds. The most dramatic was an obese, diabetic, paraplegic patient who lost 20 pounds in two months. Body fat reduction always accompanied the weight loss. There was no restriction in food intake.

Patients with Diabetes - All diabetic patients improved on The Sabbatical Diet.

All Insulin Dependent Diabetic patients reduced their Insulin requirements down to 5 to 10 units of Insulin per day after 12 months on this diet. During this time 15 % of these patients had their Insulin replaced by oral agents only.

All Non-Insulin Dependent patients reduced their oral medication requirements and 15 % did not require drug treatment after 12 months on the diet.

Patients with High blood cholesterol levels - Invariably all patients with high cholesterol had normal LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) to HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) ratios after 6 months whether they where taking or not taking Lipid Lowering Drugs. Only patients with high risk for cardiovascular diseases e.g. had a previous heart attack, were continued on the Lipid Lowering drugs. Patients whose drugs were withdrawn, continued to have normal lipid profiles up to 12 months after withdrawal of the drugs.

Research - Currently I am involved with a renowned International Organization conducting a controlled study of The Sabbatical Diet on Obesity and Lipid Status.
